Important Dates

Terms and Conditions

• This academic scholarship is only open for Aberdeen High School graduating seniors who:
  • Have a 3.2 or higher GPA
  • Plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university
  • Plan to major in Social Work, Mental Health, Healthcare, or Education
• Applicants must provide a copy of their high school transcript (as proof of GPA).
• Applicants must provide a copy of their acceptance letter from a college or university.
• Applicants must provide an academic letter of recommendation (ex. from a guidance counselor, teacher, principal, etc.).
• Applicants must provide a personal letter of recommendation (ex. from an employer, coach, neighbor, religious or community leader, etc.)
• Applicants must not provide a letter of recommendation that is written by anyone who is related to them or who lives with them.
• Applicants must submit a 500 – 1000 word essay that includes:
  • How you could benefit from the academic scholarship
  • Challenges or obstacles that you have dealt with and overcame in life, what you learned from them, and how you will use these lessons to succeed in college and beyond
  • Your chosen degree plan and how it relates to your career goals
  • Your personal qualities and characteristics and how they fit with your career choice
  • Your volunteer/community service activities and what it taught you
  • Activities demonstrating your leadership roles/skills
